Robinson R44 Price Guide (2026): New & Used
APEX HELICOPTERS, AUTHORIZED ROBINSON DEALER & SERVICE CENTER
A new Robinson R44 is priced from $646,000 before options; the Cadet trainer trims start lower and a floats-equipped Clipper costs more. Used R44s span a wide range, and one factor moves the price more than year or color ever will, how much time remains to the 2,200-hour / 12-year inspection. Build a new one in the configurator or see what is available now.
How much does a new Robinson R44 cost?
New R44 pricing starts at the factory base price for the trim and climbs with options. As of 2026 the base prices are $520,000 for the Cadet, $553,500 for the Raven I / Clipper I, and $646,000 for the Raven II / Clipper II. The trim sets the floor:
- The R44 Cadet, a two-seat-mission trainer trim, the lowest-cost way into a new R44
- The Raven I / Clipper I, carbureted O-540
- The Raven II / Clipper II, fuel-injected, the volume seller
- Clipper float trims add a fixed or pop-out float system on top of the base price
Options, air conditioning, avionics, leather, auxiliary tank, and finish, are added on top. Price a specific build in the R44 configurator, or talk to us about a factory order.
What does a used Robinson R44 cost?
Used R44 values track the times remaining first and everything else second. Rather than a flat price-by-year, the honest way to band them is by how many hours are left:
- Fresh from overhaul, clock reset to a full 2,200 hours / 12 years, $440k-$580k depending on trim, condition, year and options
- Mid-life, roughly half time remaining, $200k-$400k depending on trim, condition, year and options
- Run-out or near overhaul, little time or calendar left, $80k-$160k
- Damage history or a project airframe can be had cheaper, but typically requires expensive parts and labor to bring back to airworthy condition
A run-out aircraft looks cheap until you add the overhaul; a freshly overhauled one looks expensive until you realize its times remain the same as brand new. Run that math in the overhaul-or-sell guide.
What drives an R44’s price?
In rough order of impact: time remaining, total time, engine and component times, avionics, damage history, and equipment. The 2,200-hour / 12-year overhaul dominates because meeting it costs real money and resets value; a Robinson at 2,150 hours and one at 200 hours are different financial animals even at the same year. After that, a clean logbook and desirable avionics separate two otherwise-identical airframes.
What is the Clipper float premium?
A Clipper is an R44 on floats, fixed or pop-out. Floats add cost when new, when used, they are valuable to a buyer that needs them and often in the way to someone who doesn’t. Luckily they are easily removed and converted to a straight skid ship. Converting the other way around is more demanding and expensive.
Why won’t a listing just show the price?
Because two R44s of the same year can be hundreds of thousands of dollars apart on overhaul status alone, a bare number misleads. APEX prices every aircraft against the live market and the overhaul math, then shows the factors, see the current inventory, or get a number on yours through a trade-in or an outright sale. The ongoing cost of ownership is its own question, see what it costs to operate an R44.
Questions, answered
- How much is a brand-new Robinson R44?
New R44 pricing starts from the factory base price for the trim and rises with options, from $520,000 (Cadet) to $646,000 (Raven II / Clipper II). The Cadet trim is the lowest-cost new R44; the Raven II / Clipper II is the volume model. Price a build in the configurator for a current figure.
- What is the cheapest way into an R44?
Usually a higher-time or run-out used aircraft, or a new Cadet trim. Just remember the overhaul: a cheap run-out airframe carries a large, scheduled overhaul bill, so compare it against a fresher aircraft on total cost, not sticker price.
- Does a fresh overhaul raise the price?
Yes. A completed overhaul resets the 2,200-hour / 12-year limits and is the single biggest lift to a used R44’s value. That is exactly why overhaul status, not model year, anchors the price.
- What is my R44 worth?
It depends on hours, overhaul status, engine and component times, avionics, and condition. Send the model, serial, and times and APEX will value it against the live market, toward a sale or a trade up.
