When do you need the build-up kit?

When your own O-540 or IO-540 is overhauled in the field, or you buy a bare engine, the build-up kit supplies the Robinson installation provisions. Per RHC it is not required when purchasing an RHC overhauled or exchange engine. The engine decision is the biggest single variable in an R44 overhaul, see the overhaul guide for planning.

What is the warranty?

RHC limited parts warranty is one year or one thousand hours, whichever comes first. Lycoming publishes engine overhaul guidance at lycoming.com, and APEX supplies the kit through the parts department.
